2012 Poet - Milton Taylor

Milton Taylor continues the tradition of storytelling in verse that is a part of Australia's folk heritage.  His sheep shearing background has provided him with a wealth of subject material ranging from tragic to ludicrous and he also uses the work of other poets to showcase the variety of written and spoken word.

He has represented Australia at the prestigious National Cowboy Poetry Festival in Elko Nevada seven times and presents his work to audiences in many venues in America, New Zealand, on Norfolk Island and most Australian states.

As part of keeping the culture alive, Milton performs at schools where he conducts writing workshops as well as presenting interactive poetry. By doing this he hopes that the grand Australian cultural tradition of storytelling in rhyme will never be a lost art form.
