STRONGMAN EVENT ‘AMATEUR’ HIGHLAND GAMES
Held in conjunction with the:
2009 AUSTRALIAN CELTIC FESTIVAL
ON SATURDAY MAY 2, 2009
We welcome all visitors to the Celtic Festival to be part of our Highland Games.
These events are a bit of fun for everyone. Spectators are sure to enjoy the activities.
Registration for events commences at 10am Saturday May 2, 2009 at the Highland Games tent (Located on the western side of the Sheep dog trials at Standing Stones).
Entries close and Competition will commence at 12.00 noon, ENTRY is FREE.
You must complete the nomination forms before 12.00 noon to be in the running for the prize money. Competitors under the age of 16 years will require a parent or guardians signature
Practise time will commence at 10.00am
Kilted Dash (kilts preferred but not essential)
Prizes are up for grabs- no cash
There are several categories in the Kilted Dash:
Age and distance divisions for Children – Lassies & Lads Combined:
2-5yrs, 6-7yrs, 8-9yrs, 10-11yrs, 12-13yrs and 14-15yrs.
Over 50 Metres Distance for Men:
16-19yrs, 20-29yrs, 30-39yrs, 40-49yrs and 50+ .
Over 50 Metres Distance for Women:
16-19yrs, 20-29yrs, 30-39yrs, 40-49yrs and 50+.
THERE ARE TWO SECTIONS IN THIS YEAR’S STRONGMAN EVENT
The First section of this event is “Tossing the Caber”.
The Caber to be used in this competition weighs 36 kilos and is 3.5 metres long.
The competitor will have 3 attempts to toss the Caber and is awarded a score from 0 to 10.
Novices please attend the practice session.
The Second section has been named the “Farmers Walk”.
Open to men and women, this event requires the competitor to carry two sections of railway track
(one in each hand) over a timed distance.
Novices please attend the practice session.
The scores from each event will be tallied at the end of the competition and this will determine first, second and third place getters. This combined event will determine the Strong Man Champion for 2008. Separate prizes awarded to the, Champion Caber Tosser and Champion of the Farmers Walk.
1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes awarded to both women and men’s over 45s events.

Women to carry 2 x 22kg sections of railway tracks (one in each hand) over a timed 60 metre distance.
- MEN'S FARMERS WALK: (Open)
Men to carry 2 x 50kg sections of railway tracks (one in each hand) over a timed 60 metres distance .
- OVER 45s Men’s FARMERS WALK:
Men to carry 2 x 22kg sections of railway tracks (one in each hand) over a timed 30 metre distance.
- OVER 45s Women’s FARMERS WALK
Women to carry 2 x 22kg sections of railway tracks (one in each hand) over a timed 30 metre distance.
- MEN'S CABER TOSS
(3.5 metre pole x 36kg). 3 attempts
Presentations for all events will be at the completion of competition.
