2011 AMATUER STRONGMAN EVENT - SATURDAY APRIL 30

We welcome all visitors to the Celtic Festival to be part of our Highland Games. These events are a bit of fun for everyone. Spectators are sure to enjoy the activities.

REGISTRATION
    • 9am Saturday April 30, 2011 at the Highland Games tent (Located on the western side of the Sheep dog trials at Standing Stones).
    • Entries close and Competition will commence at 12.00 noon, ENTRY is included in your day/weekend pass.
    • You must complete the nomination forms before 12.00 noon, to be in the running for the prize money.
    • You must complete the indemnity formbefore you take part in the competition.
Practice time will commence at 9.00am and finish at 11am.
THERE ARE THREE SECTIONS IN THIS YEAR’S STRONGMAN OVER ALL CHAMPION EVENT
1. The First section has been named the “Farmers Walk”.

Open to men and women, this event requires the competitor to carry two 50kg sections of railway track (one in each hand) over a timed distance of 60 metres. Times will be recorded with the leader holding the fastest time. 


2. The Second section is the "Rock, Lift and Carry".

Open to men, this event is the 100kg "Rock, Lift and Carry" over a timed distance of 30 metres. Times will be recorded with the leader holding the fastest time.


3. The Third section of this event is "Tossing the Caber".

The Caber to be used in this competition weighs 36 kilos and is 3.5 metres long.
The competitor will have 3 attempts to toss the Caber and is awarded a score from 0 to 10. Novices please attend the practice session.
The scores from each event will be tallied at the end of the competition and this will determine first, second and third place getters. This combined event will determine theStrongman Champion for 2011.Separate prizes awarded to the, Champion Rock-Lift-Carry, Caber Tosser and Champion of the Farmers Walk.
1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes awarded to both women and men’s over 45s events.

The following events below are open to competitors over the age of 16 years.
OPEN WOMEN'S FARMERS WALK: 
Women to carry 2 x 22kg sections of railway tracks (one in each hand) over a timed 60 metre distance.

MEN'S FARMERS WALK: 
Men to carry 2 x 50kg sections of railway tracks (one in each hand) over a timed 60 metres distance.

OVER 45s MEN’S FARMERS WALK:
Men to carry 2 x 22kg sections of railway tracks (one in each hand) over a timed 30 metre distance.

MENS 100kg ROCK, LIFT & CARRY:

Men to carry 100kg rock over a timed 30 metre distance.

OVER 45s WOMENS’S FARMERS WALK:
Women to carry 2 x 22kg sections of railway tracks (one in each hand) over a timed 30 metre distance.
MEN'S CABER TOSS:
(3.5 metre pole x 36kg). 3 attempts

Presentations for all events will be at the completion of competition.
