The Australian Celtic Festival runs from 2 to 5 May 2024 with the main event taking place on 4 & 5 May at The Australian Standing Stones National Celtic Monument. However, there are so many other ways to enjoy the festival, like attending the below official events held at other locations around Glen Innes, many of which are free!

Céad Míle Fáilte! 100,000 Welcomes Concert

Venue: Glen Innes Services Club

Date: Thursday 2 May 2024

Time: 6pm & 6.30pm arrival times for 7pm to 9pm concert

This concert kicks off the beginning of the Australian Celtic Festival and is hosted by the Glen Innes Services Club.

Come along for a wee dram of some of the performers you can see at the festival over the weekend.

Celtic Symposium

Venue: Highlands Hub, 167 Grey St, Glen Innes

All welcome. Free entry

The Celtic Symposium presents half-hour snippets across the full spectrum of Celtic history given by amateurs and professionals. Attend these FREE presentations to immerse yourself in the world of the Celts, meet like-minded people, ask questions, learn from experts in their field, and offer opinions.

This year we are holding a Writer’s Forum as well. We’ll chat with authors from a Celtic background or with stories set in the World of Celts. So, if you are a writer, please let us know.

Meet two authors and their recently published books with readings by the authors – hosted by Nigel Brown.

This will be an inspiring event for readers, writers and historians alike.

Official Opening Ceremony

Venue: Glen Innes Town Hall Square

Free event. All welcome. 

The Opening Ceremony marks the official opening of the 2024 Australian Celtic Festival acknowledging Ireland and the Isle of Man and includes the lighting of the Friendship Flame, which symbolises the rekindling of old and new acquaintances in the Glen Innes Highlands. International performers, Gerry O’Connor from Ireland and Elizabeth Davidson-Blythe & Daniel Quayle from the Isle of Man will be a feature.

Celtic High Tea at Waterloo Station

Venue: Historic shearing shed at Waterloo Station, 67 Waterloo Rd, Matheson NSW. 

Directions: This location is a 15-minute drive west of Glen Innes and the shearing shed will be signposted via Waterloo Road

Date: Friday 3 May 2024

Time:  Arrive at 12.30pm for a 1pm start; 3pm finish

Take a picturesque 15-minute drive west of Glen Innes and immerse yourself in the enchanting world of Celtic culture at our exclusive long-table Celtic High Tea event in the beautifully restored shearing shed at the historic Waterloo Station.

FREE CONCERT: Tim Scanlan & Mana Okubo

Venue: Deepwater Hotel – Top Pub, 49 Tenterfield St, Deepwater

Tim Scanlan, renowned for his impressive ability to simultaneously perform guitar, harmonica, foot percussion, and vocals, will be accompanied by Mana Okubo, an incredibly talented fiddle player from Japan, at this year’s festival, as well as this FREE concert hosted by the Deepwater Hotel. Don’t miss this amazing opportunity to see this dream team deliver toe-tapping tunes that will make you want to get up and dance.  While you’re there, indulge in the pub’s Celtic-themed menu, which includes two crowd favourites – Cock -A-Leaky Soup and Irish Angus Bolognaise. A selection of winter dark ales are also available from the bar.
