The Australian Celtic Fringe Festival is on in May!

The Announcement

It’s with great pleasure that Glen Innes Severn Council can announce that this year’s Australian Celtic Fringe Festival will be held Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd May at the Australian Standing Stones, Glen Innes.

A lot of planning and consideration has gone into this year’s event. With COVID-19 restrictions impacting the normal operations of the Festival, the decision was made to introduce the Australian Celtic FRINGE Festival this year, a brand-new experience for new and loyal Festival attendees alike.

Craig Bennett, General Manager of Glen Innes Severn Council says  “After postponing our event in 2020 we had to adapt the experience to ensure the safety of our community and visitors as we comply with COVID-19 safety regulations.”

We have just launched the new look Festival website this week ahead of promotions for the 2021 event, detailing the energetic program of events celebrating the Celtic nations of Ireland and Isle of Man.

The Program

There will be 5 Concert Sessions held over Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd May in an exclusive (ticketed) entertainment precinct at the Australian Standing Stones. Attend one or more of the Sessions in the entertainment precinct to experience the bands, live music and dance performances. You’ll also have exclusive access to the Boar N Drum bar, food stalls and pipe bands generating an energetic atmosphere during session changeovers. Visitors will check in using Service NSW QR code or manual sign in.  All tickets will be sold online through the Australian Celtic Festival website.
This year we will also have a FREE market event around the Australian Standing Stones on Saturday the 1st and Sunday 2nd May. Everyone is welcome to explore Celtic cultural stalls, , visit Celtic Societies and Clans and enjoy the Celtic Kids Fairy Marquee and the many Celtic Symposium demonstrations and ceremonies around the site. Check in will be required on entry using QR code through the Service NSW App or manual sign in.
There will be many more events happening around Glen Innes both in the lead up and during the Festival including the official Australian Celtic Fashion Awards at the Glen Innes Town Hall from 29th April to the 2nd May, Celtic Symposium on 30th April, Buskers In The Square plus concerts and events held by local businesses and societies.
We invite you and your family and friends to visit Glen Innes Highlands this May and witness the spectacular Autumn colours as you experience the Fringe Festival, a unique celebration of Celtic culture among the Stones.
Glen Innes Mayor Carol Sparks says “We’re proud to run this exceptional event and I welcome visitors to come and enjoy our beautiful town and friendly locals for this fantastic event”
The Australian Celtic Fringe Festival in 2021 will be an enriching experience for day trippers as well as those families holidaying in the New England NSW area.
Rhonda Bombell, Tourism and Events Officer at Glen Innes Severn Council says “I encourage everyone to come up to The Australian Standing Stones and enjoy some Celtic hospitality while they are in town and keep an eye out for other ‘fringe’ elements via the live program on our website.”
